Egypt "Ife" Ufele, Fashion Designer, ChubiiLine
During our 6th Annual 2017 International Pretty Brown Girl Day on February 25, 2017, we seek to encourage girls to think of their futures by seeing GIRLprenuers in their communities who look like them. This is the perfect day to highlight women and girls of color who are leaving a footprint for other pretty brown girls to walk in. We would like to feature Pretty Brown GIRLpreneur, Egypt "Ife" Ufele!
Egypt "Ify" Ufele is a 10-year-old fashion designer who resides in Queens, NY with her mother and sister. Egypt was exposed and inspired by beauty of African prints and the African culture she experienced while frequently traveling to Nigeria.
Egypt was bullied in school because she was overweight due to taking steroids. Instead of letting it get her down, she started hand-sewing clothes for her dolls and eventually learned to use a sewing machine to make clothes for all body types.
Egy decided to create her own plus-size fashion line called "ChubiiLine". She is the only child designer to present her collection during New York Fashion Week and received a standing ovation for her creative designs for all sizes and genders including adults and curvy models.
Egypt wants to empower all kids to do their best and always work hard. For more information on ChubiiLine and Egypt's story, click here!
