Plan a special outing with your Pretty Brown Girl(s) to the Charles H. Wright Museum during the 2017 International Pretty Brown Girl Day Celebration on Saturday, February 25, 2017!

The Charles H. Wright Museum is the second largest African-American museum in the United States. Located in Detroit, Michigan, the Charles H. Wright Museum is a very informative place for anyone to learn about African American history. The museum includes tons of exhibits that explore African-American history from the Middle Passage to the Underground Railroad and much more.

As you are aware, the theme of our 2017 International PBG Day Celebration is "I See Me", which was developed from the "I See Me: Reflections In Black Dolls" Exhibit at the Charles H. Wright Museum! "I See Me: Reflections In Black Dolls" was designed for family enjoyment and doll collectors’ amazement. The exhibition features an array of black dolls, dating from the late 19th century to the present, including babies, fashion dolls, hand-crafted, art dolls, and more. While the exhibition draws from the museum’s collections, it also presents a large selection of intriguing and historically significant dolls loaned by local and national doll collectors. The signature Pretty Brown Girl Doll "Laila" is on display in the exhibit.
