The Patricia Harris-Johnson Leadership Scholarship

Since 2010, Pretty Brown Girl, Inc. (PBG) has continued our commitment to support young women in pursuit of higher education. The PBG mission to empower Black and Brown girls while encouraging self-acceptance by cultivating social, emotional and intellectual well-being is realized through the hundreds of girls we serve.

We have continued the tradition of excellence in programming, virtually, despite the challenges of COVID-19. In addition, we are grateful for the support and generosity of our sponsors and donors in 2020 who made it possible for us to establish the 2021 Patricia Harris-Johnson Leadership Scholarship!

Our pledge to ensure young women achieve their dreams has expanded through the Patricia Harris-Johnson Leadership Scholarship for 2021 graduating high school seniors. The late Mrs. Harris-Johnson, mother of Pretty Brown Girl Founder, Sheri Crawley, was an educator, entrepreneur, author, motivational speaker and community leader, who inspired and embodied the Pretty Brown Girl mission. She was also a HBCU graduate of Bennett College.

This year, the Pretty Brown Girl Foundation will award scholarships ranging from $1,000-$5,000 to 2021 graduating high school seniors. Please note the scholarship’s requirements outlined below;

  • 2021 high school graduate – 2.8 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Must enroll in an accredited HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) by Fall of 2021
